Making disaster risk reduction tangible

Research & Strategy

Analyzed all the reports since 2009 and developed a database of case studies that fed the iPad application, the ‘augmented reality’ report that interacts with tablets to provide interactive data and graphics, and the Tangible Earth Project – a physical educational globe projected with real-time climate data and relevant information.

The Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction (GAR) comes out every 2-years and is an assessment of the global situation on reducing disaster risks. It provides a comprehensive overview and analysis on key issues and what governments are doing to prevent disasters.

For the third edition of the report, entitled From Share Risk to Shared Value: the Business case for Disaster Risk Reduction, one of the key products was the development of an iPad app to provide real-time analysis and showcase examples of solutions and challenges to disaster risk reduction.
